In a stunning upset that will certainly send shockwaves through the amateur geek-league sports world, the Heien
group beat the Jewett lab at beach volleyball in the inaugural CBC Cup challenge this past Saturday afternoon. The best of three match was interrupted briefly by a passing monsoon and the play was best characterized as sporadic. The CBC Cup, a phoenix rising from the ashes of the storeroom junk pile, envisioned, designed and built by the Jewett lab will be taking a place in the Heien trophy case waiting for the next group to levy a challenge and win this trophy of trophies.
CBC Cup Rules:
The current holders of the cup (in this case, the Heien group) can be challenged in any
sport by any CBC group with no direct challenge-backs. They have to accept the challenge, but if multiple challenges are made with a one-week period then they can chose the challenge that they wish to accept. Smaller CBC groups may challenge as combined teams provided they clearly indicate where the coveted cup will find a home in the event that they win the challenge. In the spirit of the CBC Cup the PIs should be involved in the event, either as player, coach or cheerleader. Taunting and trash talk is not in the spirit of the cup unless
it is science-related taunting or trash talk.
