I am a biodiversity investigator with a background in terrestrial ecology.

My main goal is to elucidate how biodiversity patterns emerge and what mechanisms are involved in order to predict how environmental changes will affect diversity at different levels of organization.

I've been using spider assemblages as a biological model to understand the major drivers of biodiversity patterns at multiple spatial scales.

I am particularly interested in two biological systems: coastal dunes and oceanic island systems.

My research interests include:

I've been working as an associate researcher with the Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology (University of Minho) and the Azorean Biodiversity Group (UNiversity of Azores)
