JBL PL-100 2*(20+40watt) with active crossover
This is a very rare model with the PL-100 amplifiers mounted .
The PL-100 was made in two modules so that it would fit in the spaces to the right and left of the tweeter in the rear compartment at the top of the "Hartsfield" speaker cabinet. The dual package also permitted more convenient mounting in other enclosures.
The PL-100 was made and constructed by a man with the name Henry Wolcott
This is one of the first exclusive Powered Loudspeaker constructions (1960).
The PL-100 was constructed for the Hartsfield speaker, probebly made as a studio version? Ther are no pictures that we know of ,taken with the amps mounted or any other information about how they were used, from that time.
They were made especially for the Hartsfield, but also for Metregon/Paragon before the solid state amplifiers come 1963-64
PL-100 is welldesigned/constructed vacuumtube amplifier
.This was not a low budget project .
There is a adjustable facilities for the damping factor (DF=infinity). It makes a perfect matching to speaker loads.
Relationship to Prior Art In the late fifties and early sixties when the new topology took its initial form, the object of the design project resulting in this topology was to develop an amplifier with a vanishing low distortion, which advanced the art of design several steps. At the time, as a matter of interest, solid state circuitry wasn't even considered for the project.
