Easily install Oracle's Java platform in Linux

Most Linux distributions come with some form of OpenJDK installed, but if you want to use the real Java, you have to go to the trouble of manually installing it. Unless, of course, you let Javinstall take care of this for you. Javinstall is a customized graphical installer that makes installing Oracle's Java platform extremely easy.

Before running the installer, make sure you remove all of your current Java installations. Then simply click the download link below, allow it to execute (change its permission), and you're good to go. Let me know what you think could be improved - I spent under two days building it, so it's not the best installer in the world. But it works.

Hope you enjoy!

Javinstall requires certain Qt libraries that are installed by default in most mainstream distributions, and it also depends on Wget.

Javinstall is open source software. Check out the code here on GitHub.
