The Black Wall Street Area was one of the wealthiest African American Communities in the country.  In 1921 the area was destroyed during a race riot.  But it wasn't really a race riot because African Americans were defending their territory, their community, and their families. The disturbance ended when the Sheriff of Tulsa Oklahoma commandeered the pilot of a plane to fly over the powerful economic base that developed and drop sticks of dynamite.
