ESF EARTHTIME-EU Scientific Meeting
“The Early-Middle Pleistocene transition:
Significance of the Jaramillo Subchron in the sedimentary record”

CENIEH, Burgos, 25-27 September 2013

AIMS OF THE MEETING
The aim of this interdisciplinary meeting is to bring together specialists from various fields (magnetostratigraphy, palaeoclimatology, cyclostratigraphy, palaeoecology, biostratigraphy, geochronology, archaeology…) in order to provide an updated assessment of the Early-Middle Pleistocene transition (~1.2-0.5 Ma), with a special focus on the Jaramillo subchron (1.07-0.99 Ma). In spite of the increasing importance of the Jaramillo as a chronological landmark in Quaternary studies, the information available about this subchron remains somewhat fragmented. The main goal of the meeting is to share new results and ideas that are relevant to this period of time and promote future studies.
