As we are all aware, the Northeastern region of Japan has recently been afflicted with catastrophic disasters. The earthquake and tsunami have left many people homeless, lacking food and water and in need of basic supplies. In an effort to demonstrate support for those impacted by these disasters, the four Japanese Community Organizations in Houston (Japan-America Society of Houston, Japan Business Association of Houston, Japanese Association of Greater Houston, and the Japanese American Citizens League Houston Chapter)have united together to form the “Japanese Community Coalition of Houston (JCCH)” to provide support to Japan and organize a method by which monetary donations can be collected and remitted directly to the local authorities in Japan for use in aid to the impacted regions of Japan. America and Japan have had a long history of supporting one another and now, more than ever before, Japan and its people are in need of our support.
All donations raised for this endeavor will be used to fund the “Japan Relief Fund”. This Fund will combine all donations received by each respective organization, which will then be transferred to the Consulate-General of Japan at Houston office. The Consulate-General of Japan at Houston office will subsequently remit the combined donations directly to the Japan Red Cross for use in the relief efforts for Northeastern Japan. All contributions are tax-deductible. Also, at the upcoming annual Japan Festival on April 9th & 10th, JCCH will adopt the slogan “Ganbare Japan, We are with you” as an expression of our support for Japan and will also provide festival visitors with further opportunities to give donations to help the Japanese people. To contribute to the Japan Relief Fund, you may mail your checks to any one of the organizations’ addresses listed below.
