There is always a possibility of a counter-protest at any political rally. We are aware of one small group that has said they plan to attend for that reason. It is our aim to hold a peaceful and nonviolent event, and we are committed to nonviolent action.

We will have well-trained and experienced peacekeepers who will employ nonviolent tactics to de-escalate any problematic situation that might arise. Our peacekeepers will help to ensure a peaceful atmosphere and the continuation of the rally as planned.

We explicitly do not support the views expressed by the organization that has said they plan to counter-protest, and we reject their belief that exclusion and hatred belong within the women’s rights movement.

As a coalition, we have agreed to work with City of Cambridge officials and the Cambridge Police Department as partners in our efforts to keep this a peaceful and constructive rally . We have informed the City of Cambridge Mayor’s office and Cambridge Police Department and other city officials about the counter-protesters that we expect to be present. Our Peacekeeping team will keep the city officials informed regularly of our plans and keep them apprised of any threats or concerns. Our goal is to have police involved in any altercation only as a last resort.
