Meet Jamie

Jamie Hovorka is a studio/jazz trumpet player based in Los Angeles. He has been a member of Paul Anka's band since 2005, Brian Setzer's Orchestra since 2007, and John Tesh's band since 2010. He tours locally and internationally with these projects regularly. Prior to this he worked with Maynard Ferguson's Big Bop Nouveau band, where he played the split lead/jazz chair.

Jamie is a member of several LA-based projects, including Seth    McFarland's "The Family Guy", Cleveland Show, and American Dad on Fox TV He has backed up the New York Voices at the Jakarta Jazz Festival and the Manhattan Transfer at the Hollywood Bowl, and is a member of Scott Whitfield's Jazz Orchestra West, Roger Neumann's Rather Large Band, Les Hooper's big band. Jamie subs regularly on Bill Holman's band, Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, the Luckman Jazz Orchestra, and projects led by Steve Huffsteter and Chris Walden, among others. Jamie is also a member of the band Impulse, part of the West Coast Music agency.

Jamie relocated to the LA area in 2005 after completing a Master's degree in jazz studies at the University of North Texas. While living in Dallas Jamie performed with the the One O'Clock Lab Band, the Dallas Jazz Orchestra, and the Duke Ellington Orchestra.

Jamie has recorded over 75 albums in genres such as jazz, rock, Latin, funk, blues, and R&B so far in his career. Jamie's playing is featured on Kirk Franklin's Grammy nominated album Hero, featuring Stevie Wonder, and Susan Tedeschi's new album Back to the River, and Paul McCartney's new album (release date soon!)

Jamie is currently the trumpet instructor at El Camino College, in Torrance, CA.
