Caramel Layer Brownies
Yield: approx 25 small brownies

Time: 45 minutes prep and cooking + 1 hour refrigeration

1  -14 oz bag caramels
1/3 C evaporated milk
1 German Chocolate cake mix
1/4 C melted butter
1/3 C evaporated milk
1 C milk chocolate chips

1. In a small sauce pan melt caramels with 1/3 C evaporated milk over low heat. Keep a close eye on it and stir it often. When all the caramels are melted and the milk is incorporated take it off the burner.
2. In a large bowl combine the dry cake mix, melted butter and 1/3 C evaporated milk. Stir it up with a wooden spoon until all the ingredients are mixed together nice and sweetly.
3. Press half of the cake mixture into the bottom of a sprayed 9x13 pan. Pour 1 C chocolate chips over the top of the dough.
4. Bake at 350 for 6 minutes.
5. Take the pan out of the oven and drizzle the melted caramel over the top.
6. Crumble the rest of the cake mixture over the top of the caramel.
7. Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 15-18 minutes.
8. Let cool on a wire rack. Refrigerate for 1 hour and then cut into bars with a sharp knife. Enjoy!
