“Insight of China: China-Arab Friendship Sculpture Park” Program 2015

posted Jun 27, 2016, 5:52 AM by Jamal A Rahim

To promote the stable and long-term cultural exchanges between China and the Arab countries, the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China organized “Insight of China: China-Arab Friendship Sculpture Park” from September 8th-28th, 2015, in Yinchuan in China.

The “Insight of China” event is one of the highlights of China-Arab cultural exchange programs under the framework of China-Arab Cooperation Forum, which, enhanced the understanding of Arab artists about China, and played a positive role in promoting the artists exchanges and people-people friendship between China and Arab countries. To visualize the friendship and exchanges between China and Arab countries and in order to have a symbolic project of friendship in the city, the municipality government of Yinchuan is building a “Sculpture Park of China-Arab Friendship”.

Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is home to more than 10 per cent of the 20 million Chinese Muslims. The city of Yinchuan is the venue for the China-Arab Countries Expo, which is a good platform in the fields of economic, social and cultural cooperation between China and Arab countries and Muslim regions. That’s where Jamal A. Rahim has been invited by China International Exhibition Agency under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of China to create initial sculpture design samples, where a committee will be selecting the suitable pieces to be produced on a large scale and set up in the “Sculpture Park of China-Arab Friendship”.

Results will be announced later at the second half of 2016.

"The Other" exhibition at Bahrain Art Centre, 10-17 Nov. 2014

posted Nov 9, 2014, 9:09 AM by Jamal A Rahim

Jamal A. Rahim, one of Bahrain’s contemporary artists, will be having a solo exhibition at the Art Center on November 10, 2014.  "The Other" will showcase a selection of big size handmade prints almost 200x420 cm, some of his sculptures in stone and bronze, and his latest handmade art books.

On this occasion, A. Rahim will launch his new book “The Book” on his experience with printmaking and handmade art books from 1995 – 2013.
