Acceptable Use Policy

The staff of Jade Menagerie respects your privacy and intellectual property rights, and requires that you extend the same respect to others.

Jade Menagerie services may be used only for lawful purposes. Transmission or solicitation for reception of material which violates US Federal or International Law, any Policy of the site where the MUCK operates, or state or local law of the area in     which you reside is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, material that is threatening, libelous, or violates trade-secret, patent, or copy-right protections. In short: Don't do anything illegal.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Jade Menagerie, its staff,
the owners/operators of the computing resources, and all other parties connected with the administration of Jade Menagerie from all claims which are a result of your usage, without limitation.
You agree that any traffic which originates from your character or
 connection is your legal responsibility.

Notwithstanding the above, you agree that should Jade Menagerie of its staff be found liable in a court of law for any action or lack
of action related to your use of this game, our liability is limited
to $0.00. Access to Jade Menagerie, and the computing resources required to operate Jade Menagerie, is granted on a revokable basis, and at no time is this access guaranteed.

Residents who violate the Acceptable Use Policy, or who commit acts not explicitly covered by this policy but deemed a violation
of the policy's spirit by the staff, are liable to consequences including:

       - Suspension of access to the Muck and its computing
resources for a time to be determined by the administrators.
       - Removal of your character and termination of access to the                  Muck and its computing resources without prior notice.
       - Notification of your site and/or system administrators

Harassment

Harassment is taken very seriously on Jade Menagerie MUCK.

Repeated attempts to talk to, page, or otherwise interact with a player who has clearly requested to be left alone are a violation of our Acceptable Use Policy. Please type 'news acceptableuse' for details. Racial, ethnic and religious slurs directed at a player are also a violation of the AUS.

If you indicate that you are not receptive to intimate or sexual contact with another player, that player is obligated to respect your wishes. If someone persists in making unwanted advances, repeat your demand that he or she stop, and page a staff member immediately. Remember, TS is forbidden on our MUCK.

Residents guilty of harassment are liable to disciplinary action up to and including @toading and site-banning.

TinySex

The administration of Jade Menagerie MUCK frowns upon tinysex because, over the internet, there's no way to know if your partner has reached the age of consent. You can ask, but there's always a chance that you'll be lied to, which can lead to legal complications and--in some cases--criminal charges.

We ask that you refrain from engaging in explicit sexual roleplay on Jade Menagerie MUCK for the above reasons. Because the game  often deals with adult themes, it is perfectly acceptable to  allude to sexual acts or describe them using 'soft' language if they are vital to character or plot development. Please, no smut.

Our game's rating may vary between PG-13 and R, but even
R-rated movies don't feature hardcore sex. If you're looking
for that sort of thing, please go elsewhere. Anyone found to
be violating this rule will be dealt with however administration
deems appropriate.

It is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE to page or solicit someone for TS.

Alternate Characters

On JM, there is an alt cap - but it's defined as being a 'soft'
one. After you have accumulated five alts, you are still allowed to request more, though these will not be so readily accepted. The wizards will consider your newer alt(s) on the critera of how active
you are with your current ones, and you will be asked to give a good reason as to why you desire another character. The concept may be denied, but you can always save it and make your request again at a later date.

Multiplaying (the act of having more than one character connected
to the MUCK at one time) is allowed. However, if you break the rules of the MUCK, this privilege is subject to being revoked. Try to make sure you can pay enough attention to each alt you connect, though!

Metagaming (using IC knowledge of one character to the gain of a different character) is not allowed.

Interaction with your OWN alts is allowed, but only to an extent.
Even if two of your characters are in the same place, you should
pose both of them from one connected character and keep the other disconnected or OOC to minimalize spam and lagtime between poses so that the scene doesn't get bogged down.

To request an alt, type '@request' when connected to your main character.

Restricted Species

Due to high demand, players are allowed two wolf characters and one tiger character each at any given time. Hybrids species are allowed, but only if there is a documented case of it existing either in the wild or in captivity. For example: no dhole/wolf crosses.

White tigers and golden tigers are presently allowed. Albino
characters, of any species, are not.

ICA=ICC

ICA=ICC stands for In Character Actions = In Character Consequences. It's a rule that most MUCKers should be familiar with. If your character decides to jump off a cliff, you should expect to play out the result of the fall. This could be anything from a broken leg to a shattered ribcage, or even a sprained paw. It's up to you, but use your best judgment. The laws of physics apply. Injuries to not heal in a day, or even a week.

If you want to attack another character, expect retaliation. It's generally considered bad manners never to take a hit during a fight scene; if you think your character is "immortal", "unstoppable" or "the biggest, baddest mofo that ever set foot in the jungle", chances are that people aren't going to want to play with you.

Don't be a twink. Everybody has weaknesses, and everybody gets hurt once and awhile. Everybody has IC lapses in judgment that may cause them to do something recklessly stupid, but the consequences should always be discussed with the people you're playing with so you're all on the same page. Want to attack a tiger cub? Talk to either the cub or one of the parents before you do it so you know what you're getting into.

Names

Being on the Asian continent, Jade Menagerie wishes to keep a certain consistency on the basis of naming your characters.  This includes, but is not limited to using Oriental naming resources. You are free to make up fictional names, provided that they fit the theme presented by those of Asia. However, those who wish to have more substance behind naming a character may wish to look at one of many naming tools; this is only a short list of common resources such as dictionaries and name lists, and by no means is one restricted to them. From here, you may find, inspire, or compile a proper name, or even use these links to assist you in further explorations of naming.

Do NOT name your character after a character from an anime, video game, book or movie.
