Summer 2019 information

Information about summer 2019 is being obtained and updated below as it becomes available. If the section header has the "2019" year included it has been updated. If it still shows 2018 then it has not been updated yet. 

1) Summer School 2019 Details:

In a break from the past, there is only a single, three (3) week summer school session however there is a morning session and afternoon session each day.  This will accommodate students who need to take more than one course or to accommodate summer home/work schedules. Summer school is available to current 9th to 12th graders.

  • Deadline is Friday, March 9, 2018 by the end of business hours in the academic counseling office.

WHEN:

  • June 17, 2019 to July 3, 2019
  • Morning Session:   8:00 am - 11:30 am
  • Afternoon Session: 12:00pm - 3:30pm
LUNCH
Students who may be attending both sessions need to bring a sack lunch and eat in the cafeteria from 11:30am-12pm.
NO LUNCH IS AVAILABLE TO BUY FROM THE CAFETERIA.

Summer reading is MANDATORY for the following English students:

  • English 9 Honors
  • English 9 Advanced
  • Pre-IB English
  • IB English
Incoming freshman do not have an essay due at the beginning of school but they will need to discuss and write about the novel in the first days of class so reading before returning to school is necessary. 

Summer reading is NOT-MANDATORY for the following English students however highly encouraged.

  • English 9 Regular
Written Assignment FAQ's:
1) WHEN DOES MY STUDENT GET THEIR WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT ? 
If the book indicates there is a "written assignment due" on the first day of class, please know this is given to each student before they leave for the summer from their current English teacher. 

2) IF MY STUDENT ACCIDENTLY MISPLACES THIS WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT SHEET CAN SHE/HE GET A REPLACEMENT ? YES, they can obtain a replacement from the Academic Counseling & Guidance office secretary during normal office hours throughout the summer. Their office number is: 574.393.5300  ext. 3 to arrange a time to pick one up.

8) Transpo Bus Summer Travel Pass:
 
Transpo Bus System 'Summer Travel Pass'. This can be used not just for summer school but for all their summer travel needs to jobs, shopping, visiting friends, etc.
