Jacques Inaudi (1867-1950) est considéré comme l’un des plus prodigieux calculateurs mentaux de tous les temps. Il pouvait résoudre de tête très rapidement et avec une grande précision des calculs arithmétiques complexes. Il fut étudié par Paul Broca en 1880, puis par Jean-Martin Charcot et Alfred Binet en 1892. Si le cas Inaudi a inauguré l'étude scientifique de la mémoire experte, il présente également un intérêt très particulier pour la psychologie française qui avait décidé à l’époque d’orienter ses recherches vers l'étude clinique de sujets singuliers ou extraordinaires.

Jacques Inaudi (1867-1950) is widely regarded as one of the most gifted mental calculators of all time. Lauded for his extraordinary ability to solve complex arithmetical calculations with great speed and accuracy, Inaudi was the object of studies by Paul Broca in 1880 and by Jean-Martin Charcot and Alfred Binet in 1892. While the Inaudi case marks the beginning of the scientific study of expert memory, it is also of particular interest to French psychology, having made the clinical study of singular or extraordinary subjects a central focus of research in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
