Principal's Corner

Kimberly M. Washington, a proud wife, mother, and educator has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology form Troy State University Montgomery, Master's Degree in Speical Education and later received an Educational Specialist Degree from Alabama State University. My journey in education begain in Lowndes County Public School System serving as a Special Education teacher for five years.  Following that, I transitioned to a position of Education Specialist for elementary schools. I currently serve as principal of Jackson-Steele Elementary School in Lowndes County. Since my appointment as principal in 2008, I have worked diligently to change the culture and climate at JSE, which has had a signigicant impact on student achievement.

I have made it a point to be a lifelong learner lending myself to cutting edge developments in education. Being an educator provides an opportunity for continuous learning and growth. One of my hopes as principal is to instill a love of learning in all students, as I share my own passion for learning with them. I feel that the personal needs of the student always take precedent over any intangible that is set out to deter the journey of success. I belive that with an outstanding instructional staff all students can be afforded with opportunities for academic excellence. I relize in our competitive socity, it is important for students to not only receive a solid education, but to be educated by someone who is aware of and sensitive to their individual needs.
