About Us

Jackson Batons was started in March 2011 by Matt Jackson, a music education major at VanderCook College of Music. After attending a baton making workshop lead by one of his professors early in his sophomore year, Matt decided to make his own baton using the techniques he learned. Several prototype batons later, and with the help of his uncle, an engineer and weekend woodworker, Jackson Conducting Batons was born. Jackson Batons are 100% hand crafted from exotic and domestic hardwoods. Each piece of wood is selected by Matt to ensure that only the best wood is used, and is then shaped by hand into the handles and shafts that will eventually become Jackson Conducting Batons.
