Project idea: Letter to George Washington
If possible, visit Washington’s Headquarters in Newburgh, NY.
Discuss the viewpoints of both the Patriots and the Loyalists.
Write a letter to President Washington persuading him to take action in the Revolutionary War based on either side.
Project idea: Brochure
If possible, take a walking tour of your town and take notes/pictures of all the historical sites. Usually sites are marked with blue signs, explaining history. If a walking tour is not possible, research important historical buildings in your town or area.
Have students select a site or building and use Internet to continue researching information.
Each student should design and create a brochure for highlighting some of the important facts and history about their site.
Share and discuss.
