In the beginning, there was Interactive Voice Response (IVR), a term for the automated systems that handle billions of phone calls a year.   But now, it's not just voice anymore, since now we have chat-bots to deal with, smart speakers (Alexa, Google Home), smart cars, smart fridges, etc., and everything's (finally) got a language interface.  This is what we do.
