Having the knowledge of what a wetland is and how important it is in preventing runoff and erosion in a community and therefore it is important to make people aware of this. To begin executing this, we will be developing and administering an introductory wetlands education course to the 5th grade students at Cayuga Heights Elementary School. Using the Raponi wetlands as a tool, we will show just how important this landform is to the community. We will emphasize the functions and structure of local natural wetlands in the hopes that the students will understand why the Raponi mitigated wetlands are necessary.
