Awards and Achievements

IMC wins 2nd Place in New York State in the 2014 Purple Comet Math Meet

IMC wins 7th place in Division B for the Power Round of Princeton University Mathematics Competition 2013.

IMC wins 2nd place in New York State in the 2013 Purple Comet Math Meet.
IMC receives an Honorable Mention internationally.

Ithaca's math team wins Most Improved Math Team Award, with a perfect power round, at the annual 2013 New York State Math League.

Ofer Grossman receives Honorable Mention at the 53rd International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) in Mar de Plata, Argentina in July 2012. 

IMC wins an Honorable Mention at the Spring 2012 Purple Comet Math Meet.

IMC member Forest Tong wins an Honorable Mention at the 2012 USAMO.

IMC wins 2nd place in the Northeast region of the 2011 Mandelbrot Competition.
Team members Anying Li and Forest Tong win 3rd and 1st place in the individuals.

In April 2011, IMC wins an honorable mention in the high school division of the International Purple Comet Math Meet.

Ithaca's math team wins 1st place, Division B, at the annual New York State Math League!

At the 2011 Harvard-MIT Mathematics Tournament (Division B):
  • IMC wins 2nd place in the team round
  • IMC wins 5th place in overall team ranking (sweepstakes)
  • Team members Forest Tong, Anying Li, and Ofer Grossman receive 3rd, 5th, and 6th place in the Algebra/Geometry individual round.
Over 900 high school students from the U.S. and other nations participated in this competition.

At the 2010 Princeton University Mathematics Competition (Division B), Ithaca Math Circle receives:
  • 3rd place in the Power test
  • 3rd place in the team round
  • 4th place overall
Two members of the math circle, Forest Tong and Anying Li, win 1st and 2nd place in the Algebra individual round, and 2nd and 7th place in the Geometry individual round, respectively. 
Forest Tong receives 10th place in the individual finals.
