WHO WE ARE
We are environmental activists in Itasca County, Minnesota working to  actualize the top Natural Resources & Energy resolutions approved by Democratic Farmer-Labor Party's Itasca Unit.

THE RESOLUTIONS
Here they are listed in order of priority, passed on April 2, 2016:

GMO Labeling Required

GMO labeling of food is necessary. We have the right to know if we are buying genetically engineered crops.

Sulfide Ore Mining Ban

The DFL finds sulfide ore mining is significantly different from taconite mining, has unacceptable environmental impacts and should not be allowed in the sulfur-bearing rock from the Boundary Waters to and beyond Lake Superior and the Mississippi River Watershed.

Plastic Bag Ban

All communities in the State of Minnesota join in the effort to protect our planet and all its inhabitants by banning plastic bags and encouraging shoppers to carry reusable bags.

Sustainable Energy For All

The Minnesota DFL leaders move Minnesota beyond coal to clean energy by securing at least 50% of Minnesota’s electricity from wind and solar by 2030 with a goal of 100% renewables by no later than 2050; planning a transition away from coal by 2030 by increasing renewable energy and investment in energy efficiency to save energy and money on our energy bills; ensuring a racially and economically just transition where everyone has access to the benefits of clean energy programs and priorities to end energy poverty and allow for community solar for all.

HOW WILL WE SUCCEED?

Sustainable Energy For All

We will support Itasca Area Clean Energy Team, an ad hoc group currently aiming for Community Solar Gardens, through participation and communication; and all related local initiatives.
