Overview of the Club:
Illinois State women's club volleyball was founded in 2006 by female athletes wanting to compete at a high level while still achieving academic success as full time students. Over the years, the club has expanded and grown in many ways. In 2008, we were the Division II National Champions. After that accomplishment, we were moved into the Division I category, which competes at a very high level each year. Playing against other Intercollegiate Clubs across the nation, we usually compete in three or four tournaments each semester before heading to NCVF (National Collegiate Volleyball Federation) Nationals, which are usually held at the beginning of April. The club fields two teams, each consisting of around 8-12 players.
Our tryouts are held over two days with the final teams being announced on the second night of tryouts. Practices begin immediately after the teams are announced, as our first tournament is usually around the first week of October. For the beginning weeks of club, players can be moved from the ones or twos team depending on performance and how well the girls are working as a team. Our practices are held two nights a week and we expect full attendance at each practice. We understand that school comes first, as we are all students, but we are hoping to find girls who will make volleyball a second priority.
We like to hang out as a club off the court as well bonding and fundraising as a team. Although we take this sport and this club very seriously, we love to have fun!!
