The Internet Science and Technology Fair (ISTF)

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the following as the Internet Science and Technology Fair (ISTF) will no longer be in operation.  I wish to thank the hundreds of teachers and technical professionals, the thousands of students and our multiple sponsors during the past 20 years for making the ISTF possible.  In particular, I want to acknowledge the our institutional partner, the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Central Florida, under the leadership of Dr. Michael Georgiopoulos, for their multiple years of support.

It has been a difficult decision to end the program, but there comes a time when it must be done.  The necessary resources are not available to make needed improvements to the equipment, necessary upgrades to service the site and support to underwrite those who significantly contribute to its operation.  The following pages will outline my appreciation to some of the persons who have contributed.  It is impossible to acknowledge all those who have played an important role.  But I am reminded why we did it as one teacher put it, "we do it for the students".

Directing the ISTF has been a lifetime passion of mine while constantly a technical challenge and one that I am proud to have played a role in its realization.  Moreover, I believe we have contributed to STEM education which has been our ultimate goal.  This is evidenced via the innovative work student teams accomplished, their feedback as seen in their team assessments and online evaluations and input from their teachers and technical advisors.  In time I hope to provide a summary of what has been learned so that others may benefit.

Again to all, thank you for your participation and many contributions!
