      ISSS Announcements: There's lots going on.

       1. TESOL Program English Classes - ESL classes at University at Albany this fall semester.
      The first meeting is on October 4, at 7 pm in EDU 115 (School of Education building on Uptown Campus). We will have a placement test to form groups. The payment of $45 will be accepted in cash or paychecks (make payable to UAlbany TESOL program)
      Classes will start on October 5. They will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7.15 to 9 pm through November 11.
      Teachers are Master students at the Department of Educational Theory and Practice.
      After the completion of the course all students will receive a certificate. See the attached flier for more details.
       
      2. Off-Campus Employment Workshop Schedule – Do you need to apply for OPT this semester? If you are graduating in December, now is the time to start thinking about applying for OPT. ISSS runs a series of workshops on how to apply for off-campus employment )both OPT and CPT). Attending one of these sessions is mandatory for anyone who will be applying for OPT. Sign-up sheets for these workshops are located in the ISSS office (SL G-40)The Schedule for the Fall 2010 semester is as follows:

      c. De-stressing Through Meditation and Breathing – Monday, Oct. 4th at 5:00 pm in the Terrace Lounge, Campus Center. Come and learn de-stressing breathing techniques and meditation.

       
      6. ATTENTION:  NEW PROCEDURE FOR GETTING YOUR INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE CARD:
       
      A new procedure has been implemented, effective Fall 2010, that will make it more convenient for you to get your insurance card 24/7.  Lost cards may be reprinted using these same procedures.  Please read the following information for additional instructions.  Your insurance card will no longer be available at the Office of International Education. 

      HTH Worldwide international health insurance cards are now being sent via an e-mail to your Albany.edu address.  Please check this e-mail account for a message from HTH Worldwide with the Subject heading “SUNY-Your Health Insurance ID Card”.

      The e-mail from HTH will give you step by step directions on how to print your card and how to register it.  Please follow these instructions for printing your card.  After you print your card, please follow the directions on how to register it online at www.hthstudents.com .  Registering your card will give you access to important information and assistance with claims, referrals, doctors, translation, medications, and other insurance related materials.   Please note, the document you print is your official card.  No other card is available.

      Also, for those still interested in applying for an insurance waiver, please note that the waiver application deadline is Friday October 1, 2010. All waiver applications must be in by that date. No exceptions will be made. Please make sure that all documentation identified at the bottom of the application is attached. Applications received without the required documentation, will not be considered. Please note that insurance policies with the words Travel, Life, Trust, Fire and Marine and Home do not meet the University requirements and waiver applications will not be approved.  

      If after following these instructions, you experience difficulty in printing your card or you have deleted the message from HTH please contact IntInsurance@uamail.albany.edu for additional assistance.
