1. Office Hours – for Summer 2010 and the Memorial Day Holiday. As of May 24th, ISSS is on Summer Hours. The office will be open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. The office will be closed on Monday, May 31, 2010 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. We will re-open for normal business hours on Tuesday, June 1st.

Margaret Reich and Annie Heavener will be away from the office Monday, May 31st – Friday, June 4th at the NAFSA Conference. While Lana, Michelle and Ivory will be here, please keep the limited staffing in mind when stopping by the office with questions or to make appointments. Thanks for your cooperation.

2. Did you graduate this May? Have you left UAlbany for good? Don’t forget to complete and return an International Student Departure Form. This form can be found on the ISSS web site at - just click on the “Forms” tab and look for the “Departure Form”.

3. Be a Buddy to newly arriving international students in Fall 2010. Buddies for new students needed urgently!

Because of the large number of new international students requesting to be placed with a Buddy for the first couple weeks of classes, ISSS is asking again that if you have not signed up to be a Buddy, please think about being a helping resource for a new international student – just to help them find their way through their first days here in Albany.

Do you remember what it was like when you first arrived at UAlbany? Most new students feel overwhelmed. But you can help! Be a Buddy to a New International Student! Volunteers are needed to assist new international students before they come to Albany and during the first 2 - 3 weeks of classes in Fall 2010. See the attached flier for more information and a form to send us to say you'd like to help.

Right now, we have lots of students from around the world asking for a buddy for the beginning of the Fall 2010 semester.
