Dear Colleagues,

We are very happy to invite you to our 3rd International Symposium of Quantum Beam Science at Ibaraki University in 2018. The International Conference Series of Quantum Beam Science at Ibaraki University, which has been started in 2016, and the 2nd conference were held in December 2017.

The Institute of Quantum Beam Science of Ibaraki University (IQBS-IU) has been found in 2016 as a quite unique institute to provide the education and research programs specified the developments and utilization of Quantum Beams. The students of IQBS-IU study the many variety of Quantum Beam in four courses, “Environmental Radiation Science”, “Quantum Material Sciences”, “Chemistry and Life Sciences”, and “Beam Line Science” with the strong collaboration between Japan Proton Accelerator Complex (J-PARC), Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), Ibaraki Quantum Beam Science Research Center (IQBRC), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), National Institute of Radiological Science, KEK, and etc.

The Quantum Beams, Electromagnetic Waves involving X-ray, Gamma Ray, Laser, and Particle Beams involving Neutron, Electron, Proton, and Muon are very important in the developments of functional materials for the sustainable social systems, and also the Quantum Beams is strongly expected to give the deep knowledge of biological molecules for the related medical applications. Very recently, Muon has been recognized a promising Quantum Beam Probe for comprehending the behavior of soft materials by the developments of recent sophisticated Muon beam based on the strong proton accelerator.

The main theme of 3rd conference has been set to "Quantum Beam Science in Biology and Soft Materials", which will be held on 30th May - 2nd June, 2018 at the main campus of Ibaraki University in Mito, Ibaraki, Japan.
