Biosketch

Ismaël Fofana is a postdoctoral research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Manager of the West and Central Africa Office (WCAO) in Dakar, Senegal. He coordinates the network activities of th African Growth and Development Policy (AGRODEP) Modeling Consortium including training, grants, publications and communication programmes. He worked as researcher for the Poverty and Economic Policy (PEP) research network at Laval University in Quebec between 2001 and 2010 and served as Director of its African Office in Dakar, Senegal from 2005 to 2007. He holds a Doctorat in Economics from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne in France, a Master of Arts in Economics from the Laval University in Canada, and an Engineer Diploma in Agricultural Economics from the ESA Mograne in Tunisia. His principal area of expertise is on the issues of energy and climate vulnerabilities and policies. His has been conducting research and providing technical support to researchers in developing countries on building Social Accounting Matrices, and Poverty and Gender focused Computable General Equilibrium Models to assess the macro-micro links of public policy in such a way issues of poverty, equity, growth and macro dynamics are better understood. Currently, his principal research interest lies in the economic foresight and strategic planning for food and energy security in Africa.
