What is the Hand in Hand Program?
The Hand in Hand Program is a powerful support system unique to Island Park.  The goal of the program is to provide trained staff member hours to assist teachers in meeting the academic and emotional needs of all students. 
Each grade level at Island Park receives dedicated HiH Paraprofessional hours that provide one-on-one and small group learning time with specific students identified as needing additional support. The HiH Paraprofessionals are also a positive presence helping to promote healthy relationships among students.


HiH Paraprofessionals are on a one-year contract completely funded by proceeds from our PTA's HiH Auction and Fund-a-thon The expertise, care and time the HiH Paraprofessionals devote to each grade level provides additional hands-on assistance and learning for students, thereby lowers effective class size.

On behalf of the students and teachers, we thank the generous parents who fund the HiH positions each year through Auction and Fund-a-thon donations. We also thank our wonderful corporate donors for supporting this essential teaching program at Island Park Elementary.
