(Information in brackets is added to assist readers in the interpretation of the verse).

The first time Allaah promised eternal life after death to the righteous among humans is in the Jewish Bible.

1. In the Torah Adam and Eve and their children Cain and Abel are promised to be accepted by Allaah if they choose good behaviour and reject evil behaviour and Allaah tells them they have the ability to do it.

Torah Genesis 4:6 And the LORD (Allaahsaid to Cain: 'Why are you angry? and why is your facial expression fallen?

Torah Genesis 4:7 If you do good, shall it (your good behaviour) not be accepted? And if you do not do good (behaviour), then sin (wrongdoing by you) waits at the door; and he (sin) desires you (to do evil behaviour), but you (by doing good behaviour and rejecting evil behaviour) can rule over it (sin, meaning humans have the ability to reject wrong doing).'

2. The Torah teaches that Allaah has placed good and evil in the world and commanded humans to choose good.

Allaah says those who choose life on the earth will be blessed with life in the hereafter.

Torah Deuteronomy 30:19 I (Allaahcall heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I (Allaahhave set before you life and death, the blessing (of life) and the curse (of death); therefore choose life (the blessing), so that you and your descendants may live (with the blessing of life).

3. Prophet Abraham Ibrahim who was not buried with his fathers is promised peace in the afterlife in Genesis 15:15 in the expression “But you (Abraham Ibrahim) shall go to your fathers in peace …”

Genesis 15:15 But you (Abraham Ibrahim) shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age.

4. The promise of Allaah.

In 1 above Allaah accepts Good behaviour.

In 2 above Allaah says people and their descendants who choose the blessing of life in this world will get the blessing of life.

In 3 above Allaah says to Abraham Ibrahim he fulfilled the command of Allaah for good behaviour in this world in 1 above by choosing the blessing of life in this world in 2 above and that his reward will be to go to his fathers in peace (which is the next life).

Abraham Ibrahim was not buried with his fathers.

Allaah is telling Abraham Ibrahim that “you (Abraham Ibrahim) shall go to your fathers in peace.”

Torah Genesis 25:8 And Abraham Ibrahim expired, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.

This is not a perfect translation of the Quran because the Quran is in the Arabic language.
The Arabic language in the Quran must be understood as it was understood over 1400 years ago.
Allaah guides who He wills to the correct understanding of the Quran.
In the English language the word Allaah is God.
Allaah (God) is the creator of the Jews, Christians, Muslims and everyone and everything that exists.
