Welcome to Indian Spontaneous Expression Database (ISED).

We present a spontaneous expression dataset for the advancement of research in facial expression analysis. Near frontal face video was recorded for 50 participants while watching emotional video clips. The  novel  experiment  design  induced  spontaneous  emotions  among  the  participants  and  simultaneously gathered their self  ratings  of experienced  emotion.  Video clips  were annotated carefully by  four  trained decoders, which were further validated by the nature of stimuli used and self-report of emotions.

The  ISED  contains  near frontal  face  recordings  of  spontaneous  emotions  at  high resolution and frame rates along with information regarding  gender  of  the  participants,  the  ground-truth  of  emotional clips  and  its  intensity,  and  the peak  emotion intensity frame  in the video clips.

Head movement in all directions werere also allowed. The covered emotions include Happiness, Disgust, Sadness, and Surprise.

The dataset is freely available for research purposes and we encourage other researchers to use it in their own experiments related to recognition of affective states.
