About Rasuwa and ISAEPF Nepal


Rasuwa District is located in the north of capital city Kathmandu of Nepal and is full with natural beauty. It covers an area of 1514 square km. and it covers the altitude from 314m to 7234m. Which is located in 27˚2' to 27˚10' northern latitude and 85˚45' to 85˚08' eastern longitude. It has one constituency 9 Ilaka (Region) and 18 village development committees. Physically Rasuwa district can be divided in upper and lower region. According to the census of 2058, B.S this district has a population of 44731, the expected population of this year is 49301, and the population of this district is increasing in the rate of 1.85%. The number of houses in this district is 8609 according to the census of 2058.

Tibet autonomous area of China is located in the north of this district, Nuwakot district in the south, Sindhupalchok district is in the east and Dhading district is in the west. Geographically it is remote area and its social, economic and developmental status is very low and from the last few years it is facing the terrible problem of landslide and through this more than 25 people has lost their life, many people have become homeless and have lost their property and fertile land. The living of northern and western part of this district has become very difficult and the people living in these regions are facing various problems as shortage of fuel, food etc.

Rasuwa district is well known for religious places and tourism. For the religious importance Gosainkunda and other religious lakes lie in this district and also here are various temples of Hindus and Monasteries of Buddhists. Langtang and Gosainkunda regions are well known important areas for tourism and many other trekking routes are found and are developing. Red panda, which can be found only in the Langtang region in the world, Langtang and Ganesh Himal peak, are attracting more and more tourists day by day. Langtang national park, which covers an area of 1710sq km area, lies mainly in this district and covers some area of Nuwakot and Sindhupalchok district. In these park different types of pines, 32 types of rhododendron are found.
Langtang, Chilime, Trisuli, Phalakhu are important rivers of this district. From these rivers more amount of electricity can be produced as from Chilime hydroelectricity project and the economic and developmental status of people can be increased, tin and lead mines of Ganesh Himal area are waiting to be explored.
This district has 110 km graveled road, about 90 km agricultural road is going to be completed soon and the construction of highway joining Tibet of China to India is completing soon.
83% people of Rasuwa district are indigenous people and the regions where the indigenous people live are less developed.


About ISAEPF

ISAEPF NEPAL is Shorcut name of Indoor Smoke alleviation & Environment Protection Forum Nepal and it is one of the latest established and non government organization formed by Chimney Hoods Management Committee (Revolving Fund Groups ) supported by Practical Action Nepal (PAN) since 2005 in Rasuwa District. ISAEPF-Nepal interested to partnership with PAN, DDC& relevant organization. The major goal of the organization is to reduce poverty by IAP alleviation in each household and improve the health of women’s and children. Major objectives of the organization are to continuity the program, advocate on IAP in district level, and advocate for control the climate change issue .
