I am Serra Húnter Professor of English Grammar and Linguistics (Catedràtica Serra Húnter de Gramàtica anglesa i Lingüística) in the Department of English and German Studies at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. I am the Principal Investigator of the ROLLING group. I am a continuing external collaborator at the Neuroscience of Language Lab - New York University Abu Dhabi since 2015.
I am mainly interested in theoretical morphology and its interface with syntax and semantics, as well as in argument structure and the syntax-lexicon interface. I have also worked on the modality of capacity/ability/capability with Elena Castroviejo (Ikerbasque, UPV-EHU), and on theme vowels. Since my research stay at the NeLLab - NYU Abu Dhabi in 2015, I am also interested in priming in comprehension and neurolinguistic processing. I am also interested in grammar teaching and learning in EFL and have published joint experimental work in this area with Qiaoling He.
I would be happy to (co-)supervise postgraduate research in the above-stated areas. I am especially interested in argument structure, unergativity, light verb constructions, derivational morphology, roots, deverbal adjectives, Distributed Morphology, and the teaching of grammar.
I received a Llicenciatura in Anglogerman Philology from the Universitat de Barcelona. I hold a Master of Science in Linguistics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D (European Mention) in Linguistics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
In 2010 I joined the Linguistics and Cognitive Science Group (LyCC), led by Violeta Demonte, as a JAE Doc postdoctoral researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CCHS-CSIC) in Madrid.
In 2012 I started working as an Assistant Professor (Professora Lectora) in English language and linguistics in the Department of English and German Studies at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. I became Associate Professor, Serra Húnter Fellow (Professora Agregada Serra Húnter) in 2016.
Previously, I had worked as a Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin for Catalan Studies (Lectora de català) at the Universität Köln and at the Universität Bonn, as a part-time Adjunct Professor (Professora associada) in the Department of English and German Studies at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, and as a part-time University College Associate Professor (Professora Titular d'Escola Universitària amb venia docendi) in English and German languages at the University College for Tourism Studies Bettatur (URV Attached Center).
