Hello! My name is Isabella Torres, and I am currently a senior at the Urban Assembly New York Harbor School. Through programs called CTEs(Career and Technical Education), I am part of Marine Biology Research program thats allows students to earn college credit and advanced marine biology skills. We are given the opportunity to branch out and discover our independent research projects. My partner and I worked on this research for two years, and were given the opportunity to participate in NYSCEF's,the biggest science fair in New York City, preliminary rounds. We work to find non-invasive sampling methods in order to collect gut content from sharks. These methods that would reduce stress on sharks, would then be used in order to find diets of Great White's who have recently appeared in the Long Island Sound. Besides working on this project, through the research program, I have been given the opportunity to work with non for profit organizations such as: CIVITAS and Harbor SEALS (a citizen science organization  that teaches students advanced marine biology skills). I have also worked with The Nature Conservancy(LEAF),was stationed in Rhode Island and worked as an intern. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at: isabellatorres628@gmail.com
