Irving A. Cruz-Matías received the Ph.D. in Computing from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain in 2014, the M.Cs degree from the University of the Americas, Mexico in 2007 and the B.Eng. from the Technological University of the Mixteca (UTM), Mexico in 2000. Before pursuing his PhD studies in Spain, he was Software developer at UTM and Professor in the Engineering School at the Anahuac University, campus Oaxaca, where he has taught courses at undergraduate and master level in areas related to Computer Science. During his stay in Spain, he was Research Assistant in the Modelling and Visualization of Biomedical Data Group. Currently, he is a full-time professor in the Computer Science department of the University of Monterrey (UDEM), México.

Dr. Cruz-Matías has authored research articles in refereed journals and conference proceedings. His current research interests include modelling, analysis and visualization of 3D biomedical samples, digital image processing and in general, the application of computer graphics in the bioengineering field.
