Team 854 Iron Bears
Mission Statement
Martingrove Collegiate Institute Team 854 is dedicated to continuing education in STEM, fueled by innovation, collaboration and personal growth.
Overview
Martingrove Collegiate Institute, located in Etobicoke, Ontario, has been participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition since 2002. Throughout our years of participation, we have developed a reputation among other teams and schools across North America for our ingenuity and innovative designs.
History
In the 2007 season, our Omni-wheel drive system, which we designed and built in-school, was described by many judges and competition heads as "one of the best drive trains ever designed and used in competition".
In 2019, our team won awards for our hatch/cargo mechanism as well as for our control system, both of which were designed, built, and programmed by the dedicated members of our team.
In 2023, coming out the other end of the pandemic with a fresh start, we participated in the STEMley Cup Championship, proudly taking home the Rookie All-Star Award. The Iron Bears feel invigorated to take on any challenge and have a successful 2024 season!
Our team is made up of committed high school students, alumni mentors, and professional engineers. Together, we work to innovate and grow not only in robotics, but also in regards to ourselves!
