Aran Islands - Inis Mór

On Monday the 5th of June we took our bus to Ros a' Mhíl harbour to get the boat to Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran Islands. On arrival at Kilronan harbour, people chose different methods of transport to travel around the island: bicycle, tandem, pony and trap or minibus.

The weather was perfect - blue skies, sun and gentle breeze.

The main site was Dún Aonghasa, a large stone fort which sits on the edge of a cliff.

It has an impressive cheveaux de frise defence system surrounding it on the land periphery.
