I am a specialist in quality, safety and integrated management systems, process Improvement and business excellence backed by over 25 years work experience with Australian and Global organisations.
My career in Quality Management began in the rental textile service industry (ALSCO Linen Service) where I led the certification of its manufacturing division and its four major sites to ISO9002 Quality Management System (AS3902 back then). Six years later, I moved on to the glass manufacturing and processing industry (Pilkington Glass, now CSR Viridian Glass) to project-manage the rationalisation and deployment of an integrated, enterprise-wide quality, safety and environmental management system across three upstream manufacturing operations and corporate office. I also facilitated process improvement and the standardisation of the glass Product Compliance Program across 13 downstream processing businesses. Over this period and as part of my professional development, the company supported my involvement as a Business Excellence Evaluator, a role which gave me the opportunity to review business practices of government and private organisations, and evaluate them against the Australian Business Excellence Framework.
During this time, I also did contract work for an APEC Operational Project, a Workshop Cum Dialogue Session on Developing KPIs and Productivity/Performance Benchmarks for Performance-Based Remuneration Systems, which I delivered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2007.
After more than twelve years in the glass manufacturing industry and a short break, I accepted the role of Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement Manager in a railway rolling stock business (Faiveley Transport), where I project-managed and facilitated the establishment of the company intranet and the automation of workflows; led the rationalisation and integration of quality and safety management systems; introduced the Balanced Scorecard system; facilitated annual business planning events; and coordinated the Continuous Improvement team process. I also designed and delivered several in-house training programs to assist with improving organisational culture and capability.
Following a change of company leadership, I decided to freelance in consulting and project work, and it was during this period that Sydney Water initially engaged me as an agency hire (AH) for a six-month project to develop a safety assurance framework for Customer Delivery (Service Delivery back then). Two years later, while still on an AH extended contract, I accepted the offer of a two-year term position as a Safety Project Officer Level 2 in Customer Delivery. And four months before the term ended, I secured a permanent role as Safety Audit and Investigation Specialist with Sydney Water’s Safety & Wellbeing Team.
Prior to all these, I owned and managed businesses in apparel design and production, retail and creative services (i.e. dance, and interior design).
