October 23rd at the premises of the Aarhus Center in Sarajevo, the Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nina Suomalainen, and Deputy Mayor of the City of Sarajevo, Miroslav Zivanovic, opened an educational seminar for journalists regarding the role of media in the realization of the right to information about the environment.
Ten representatives of the media attended the seminar, during which the contents of the Aarhus Convention and experiences of journalists in practice were presented. Presentations were held by Dunja Jelovac (Radio Federation journalist and participant of educational seminars which were held as a part of our project), Borka Rudic (B&H Journalists' Association) and Almedina Karic (B&H Ombudsman Institution). During the seminar a media guide/handbook was presented - the publication created as part of our regional project "Enforcement of the Aarhus Convention in the Adriatic Region Countries". Also, an initiative for the formation of a (non)formal club of environmental journalists at the Aarhus center was launched.
The guide can be downloaded directly from the news posted at their website http://aarhus.ba/ or from the subpage Useful information ("Korisne informacije" in local language).
