Oorion - describes what's near and helps find items and text

Introduction

Oorion, spelt O O R I O N, is a free app which offers five powerful tools for exploring what's around you and finding items. It's very simple to use and works well with VoiceOver and will work fine for people who don't use VoiceOver. I believe that none of Oorion's tools require an internet connection. So, it's perfect for use in places where it's difficult to connect to the internet using either mobile data or wi-fi. 

Oorion's five tools

Search object

This lets you search for one of a long list of pre-defined objects. The list is extremely varied and includes items like ascending staircase, banana, bus stop, chair, ear buds case and much more. You can search within the list and also select from a list of recent searches.

search text

This helps you find a word or phrase. I use this quite a lot while shopping, especially when the network isn't good enough for my Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to assist.

Nearby Objects

This speaks all the objects that are visible to the camera.

Nearby Text

This speaks any text you point the camera towards.

Personal Objects

This allows you to scan and name your own objects after which you will be able to search for them.
