Ionic Lodge celebrates a rich history, tiling its doors for the first time on July 6, 1847, under the Grand Lodge of England, enlisted as Number 798 on the English Register and Number 18 on the Provincial Register. It was not until October 5, 1858 when Ionic was enrolled upon the Grand Lodge of Canada Registrar, receiving Number 25.
"Ionic Lodge was started by seventeen members of St. Andrew's, and the vitality and strength of the latter will be best understood when it is realized that the applicants for the new lodge comprised men not only of probity and standing in the community, but who were also active, experienced, and skilled Craftsmen." (Ionic Lodge A.F. & A.M. 1847-1879).
Ionic Lodge has been the Mother Lodge to countless notable members, who have contributed to society, the formation of Canada, their own points of labour, the world at large, and the Craft in general - including three Grand Masters.
