Groudle Glen

Modelling the Groudle Glen Railway

Accucraft has announced a live steam model of Sea Lion,
and IP are producing kits for the 1920's Battery locos along with
models of almost all the rolling stock to have graced the line,
so there's never been a better time to model the line that
'Goes uphill to the sea'.

Groudle Toastrack Scratch Build

Progress so far: gluing the roof structure to the sides (PT)

Not very clear: the W irons and axleboxes are scratchbuilt, although the springs are cosmetic.
The wheelboxes were cut from steel tube and soldered up. Chassis is 6mm square hardwood.

Now almost complete, here's my scratchbuilt Type A Groudle coach.
I'll wait for 'Sea Lion' to arrive before making a decision on which couplings to use. (PT)

Just to prove that it isn't all bravado in the Public Bar, I've been looking at the next project. I'm pondering a 7/8ths model of one of the battery locos. The hardest bit looks to be the buffer beam, but the latest toy at work is a 3-D printer. The software took some learning, but...

The surface finish isn't great, so I'll experiment with filling, smoothing and painting...
