HOMEMADE BURGERS

Preparation: 15 minutes - Waiting: 30 minutes (optional) - Cooking: 40 minutes


INGREDIENTS
500 gr. ground beef
250 gr. stale bread soaked and drained
1 large onion, grated
2-3 tbsp parsley, finely chopped
1 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp dry oregano
1 egg
3 tbsp olive oil + extra for brushing the patties
Salt, pepper

8 burger buns sliced in halves
8 slices cheddar cheese
1 tomato, cut into thin slices
1 onion, thinly sliced
8 lettuce leaves
pickled cucumber, thinly sliced
ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise

DIRECTIONS
Put the ground meat into a bowl. In the food processor bowl, add the drained bread and beat until puree, add it to the meat along with all the other ingredients and knead with hands to mix until combine. If the mixture is too dry add a little extra olive oil or some water. If time allows, put the mixture in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to "blend" the ingredients and scents.

Preheat oven grill at 200oC. Spread a large baking pan with parchment paper. Shape the mixture into patties and put them onto the pan. Brush their surface with olive oil and bake for about 40 minutes, turning them upside down in the middle of cooking time.

Once our patties are ready, remove from heat and add to each a slice of cheddar cheese. Bake the buns in the grill until golden.

Prepare the burgers. Spread mayonnaise on the "down" side bun, add lettuce leaf, patties with cheese, tomato, onion, pickles and cover with the "up" side bun. Serve with french fries, ketchup and mustard.
