Research Interests

My research interests lie in the application of operations research techniques to healthcare delivery.

My current doctoral dissertation focuses on the patient-centric design of long-term care facility networks. A current lack of capacity in long-term care facilities contributes to both inpatient and emergency department bed blocking in acute-care hospitals as patients are forced to remain in acute-care hospital  beds due in part to a lack of capacity in various long-term care facilities.

I have previously participated in various healthcare projects in both an academic as well as a consulting role, including: emergency department resource optimization; patient scheduling analysis in a clinical setting; medical inventory policy analysis; analysis and reengineering of chemotherapeutic drug preparation workflows in a pediatric setting; analyses of various intravenous medical preparation policies in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting; as well as a study of the medical, social and psychosocial causes linked to elderly patients with community acquired pneumonia.
