Research Workshop on

Digitalising Health

Date: Wednesday 17 to Friday 19th September 2014

The symposium on healthcare improvement and innovation builds on the success of two previous workshops (Prato 2011 focussed on Lean in healthcare and Venice 2013 focussed on innovations in health delivery and management) to address a range of issues that relate to healthcare improvement and innovation. These include:

  • Implementing e-health, tele-care and new medical technologies
  • Integrating health and social care systems
  • Lean health and service re-design
  • Patient-centred care, self-directed care and personalisation
  • Exploring the role of the health professional and the academic in health services research and healthcare improvement

If you are interested in presenting a paper at the symposium, please go to our Call for Abstracts page.

The symposium is being convened in conjunction with a research workshop on electronic health records (EHR) and the digitalisation of health care. This will discuss findings from a major Australian Research Council funded project exploring the introduction of shareable electronic health record systems in Australia and the United Kingdom. Key themes emerging from the research to be discussed in the workshop include:

  •  The development of national EHR policy in the United Kingdom and Australia
  •  The role of health informatics in shaping EHRs
  •  EHRs and the disruption of the moral order of health care systems
  •  The role of boundary objects in EHR projects
  •  Learning from the past to improve the future of EHRs

A practitioner roundtable and keynote address will also form part of the program.
