Annual General Meeting

I am pleased to present my Annual Report as Chairman of Ingham & Cammeringham Village Hall Committee for the year ending 31st March 2017.  Once again it has been a very successful year, during which the Committee has achieved its objectives, namely of both maintaining and also developing the Village Hall’s facilities for the Users and Residents of the two villages.

The Hall has had a record year of regular useage and as such revenues from this have increased significantly.

Committee membership has remained stable this year, The FOIS have stepped back to having a representative at the meeting rather than a permanent one.

Once again our core fund-raisers, namely the 200 Club, Theatre nights and our monthly events of Flix in the Stix, and Bingo evenings, continue to generate much-needed revenue.  Thanks go especially to Christine Walker, Les Dicker and Carol Deague for their hard work in heading up these events.

I am fully aware that none of the above could happen without the commitment, assistance and effort given by firstly Committee members and also by our considerable number of volunteer helpers. A big thank you to you all.

Our Treasurer will update us on the Profits made from these events in his Report.

The Committee receives tremendous financial support from both Ingham and Cammeringham Parish Councils in terms of their Annual Grants.  These together total some £1,550 and help keep the Hall hire charges for Ingham and Cammeringham residents to a reasonable level.  These Grants are a welcome and essential contribution to our operating costs and without which Hire Charges would inevitably have to rise to the detriment of many of the local Organisations who regularly make use of the Hall’s facilities.

During the summer we had new flooring in the chair & table stores along with them being decorated. Thanks to Greg for the continual refreshing of the Community Room decor.

We have maintained our policy of ensuring that we are up to date on the latest initiatives and have continued to attend our local Village Halls’ cluster group meetings where issues common to us all are discussed.

We have also continued to train new Bar Staff from User Organisations which sell alcohol in the Hall at their functions. Thanks again to Graham and Mike, our 2 Personal Licence Holders, for their input.

As you are all aware that Mick Slack stood down from Chairman of the committee during the year, I would like to thank him for all of the hard work that he continues to put in to ensure the smooth running of the hall. I am sure that you would all like to join me in thanking him for the amount of work he put in over the years as chair.

I would also like to especially thank Kathy Ridout as Secretary, John Baker as Treasurer and Jackie Evans as Booking Secretary for the many hours and hard work which they have put in over the past year, usually behind the scenes, to ensure the smooth running of the Committee and Hall.

My thanks also go to our Caretakers, Greg Powell and Dave Johnson (who left earlier in the year), for all their considerable efforts in maintaining the Hall on a daily basis.

I am also greatly appreciative of the attendance of Ian Tyas, Headteacher of Ingham Primary School, at some of our Meetings as an Observer.  His attendance provides a firm link between the School and the Village Hall Committee, ensuring that any issues can be quickly resolved and that the continued success of the CTS scheme is maintained.

In addition to the Committee members mentioned in the report so far, I would also like to thank all other members and in particular those who hold other specific posts of responsibility for their contributions during the year and without which the Committee could not begin to function.

Finally I hope you will agree that our annual Christmas Party for Committee members, partners and regular volunteers was again a very successful and enjoyable evening, and gave us all the opportunity to celebrate our achievements during the year.  I personally am very appreciative of the strong team which we have here and of which I am very proud to be part.  I look forward to the Charity continuing to flourish in the years ahead.

Ladies and gentlemen, this concludes my Report for the year ending 31st March 2017.
