Thymus serpyllum or T. Vulgaris
Also known as garden thyme, french thyme, common thyme, and thymi herba. Medicinal trade names include Can destroy, Dentarome plus toothpaste, Fenu-Thyme, Thyme leaf & flower, thyme leaf, thyme liquid and Ultimate Respiratory cleanse. Medicinal parts of the plant are the above-ground parts of either of the types of thyme. The above-ground parts contain thymol, flavonoids, and carvacrol, which as an expectorant, antispasmodic, and antitussive effect. Thymol and carvacrol also have antibacterial and anti-fungal effects. Rosmarinic acid may have anti-edema and macrophage-inhibiting effects. This herb may also act as a menstrual stimulant. The most potent form of thyme is the common thyme (thyme vulgaris) which contains more oil then the wild thyme (thyme serpyllum) or Spanish thyme thyme zygis). Thyme is used for bronchitis, pertussis, laryngitis, tonsillitis, dyspepsia, diarrhea, rheumatic diseases, and pediatric enuresis. Also used as a diuretic, antibacterial and anti flatulent. Drying Thyme: 

Dry in a dark, very dry and well ventilated room. The maximum drying temperature is about 93 degrees F/ 35 C to prevent the breakdown of constituents.

Infusion of Thyme: 

Use 1 ounce of herb to 1 pint of water. You can use less herb for more minor ailments. Allow the herb to seep for half an hour then allow it to rest for 15 minutes.

Thyme Tea

-    Mix 2 teaspoonfuls of dried thyme with boiling water and steep for 10 minutes.
-    Strain
-    Sweeten to taste
Drink 1 - 3 times daily, and not more then 5 times a day for a cough

Thyme Lore

Thyme is most fun when used to invoke the fairy folk. It is said that it may be used to bring the fairies and wee folk into one’s life. It has been used to ward off evil and in rituals of burial.
    When added to the cooking, it will help guests reclaim their childlike sense of  fun, letting go the ‘serious’ cares of the adult. Thyme also carries the virtues of courage and ambition.
-    Internally, as stomachache, etc: use a moderate infusion, ½ cup doses as needed.
-    Externally: fresh herb or commercial oil to three parts fixative oil.
