STATE CONFERENCE‎ > ‎

ALL CONFERENCE SHOW

2019 All-Conference Play Form

Purpose

The Indiana Thespians invites troupes from around the state to apply to perform a full-length production on Sunday morning.  This will allow schools to showcase full-length (60-100 minutes) productions that they produce as part of their regular season, or as collaborative projects with other schools.

Process

  1. By September 30, 2018, schools wishing to be adjudicated will fill out the online form.  An invoice for $200 will be sent out so that you may get a check cut from your school’s bookkeeper. The adjudication payment will be due no later than two weeks before your adjudication appointment and the money will be used to provide travel and lodging for the adjudicators.  This payment will be sent to the Indiana Thespians Treasurer, and you will receive an email confirmation of receipt from him.

  2. You must give Indiana Thespians at least THREE WEEKS from the time you submit your application and the time your show is performed at your school.  Otherwise, we may not be able to adjudicate.

  3. The Indiana Thespians will designate one or more members of the board to attend a performance of the production at the troupe’s school.

  4. Immediately following the performance, the member(s) of the board will give a talk-back to the company members, reflecting on the artistic choices that were made.  We would encourage you to invite members of the audience to sit in and observe this educational process.

  5. Once ALL scheduled shows have been adjudicated, the members who attended the performances will discuss and arrive by consensus which show will be selected as the All-Conference Production.  Criteria that may be used to arrive at this consensus include, but are not limited to:

    1. Length of the show (does it fit the time requirement)

    2. Overall artistic merit of the production

    3. Ability of the show to travel and be produced in the host school’s facility

  6. Adjudications must be completed by November 20, 2018. A decision will be made and announced no later than December 1, 2018.

  7. Proof of permission to perform at your school must be secured and provided to Indiana Thespians by September 30. If you feel you will not be able to secure rights to perform at state by Dec. 15, you could secure rights to perform the all-conference production earlier and then cancel if your production is not selected.

Notes

  1. The adjudication payment is non-refundable.

  2. We will try to accommodate every request to adjudicate the performance date of your choice.  However, due to the Board Members’ schedules, this may not always be possible.

  3. Those who apply AND SUBMIT THEIR PAYMENT will receive priority in scheduling in the order received. Please remember that there are a limited number of weekends in the time frame to be adjudicated, so submit your request and payment early to secure the date of your choice.

  4. We will always strive to schedule at least two board members to adjudicate each production, but this may not always be possible due to geography and Board Members’ schedules.

  5. Please understand that it will be impossible for the same people to adjudicate every show.  This program is about sharing great theatre with the entire state while offering constructive, educational feedback from outside educators.  There are MANY great troupes in our state, and we’d love to showcase them all, but our conference schedule does not allow for that.
