This is an ongoing, collaborative project to map, explore, speculate upon, and otherwise investigate the palimpsest nature of the coastline between Edinburgh and Fife, a zone of submerged and overwritten history, bleeding through at the edges in the form of rusting machinery, concrete blocks, ruins, and reinvented communities. Eventually, it will expand to include all coastlines, whether real or imaginary, concrete or speculative.

The first project is 'Refinery', the record of a walk undertaken on 21 July 2013 between Leith and the Grangemouth oil refinery. When the architecture of the site has been put in place, it will be opened up for others to populate as they see fit. It can become a space of fiction, reportage, photography, filmmaking, art, and wilder speculations.
