Who are we?
We are a group of scientists dedicated to collaboration and leveraging resources to conduct creative and quality science.  DISL, also known as the Alabama Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium (AL MESC), ia non-degree granting laboratory with the mission to pursue excellence in research, education, and service in the area of marine sciences.  DISL programs serve 22 universities and colleges in the AL MESC, and DISL researchers have joint appointments at one of the member institutions.

Where we work?
The iMOB facility is a collection of four laboratory groups in the Wiese wing of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab's Marine Science Hall.  Our collective research spans the planet:  from the local waters of the northern Gulf of Mexico to the open ocean and polar environments (e.g. Antarctica, Bering Sea).

What we do?
Our research activities aim to understand microbial ecology, biological and chemical oceanography, and the biogeochemical cycling of elements in aquatic environments.  Our research in a WordleTM:
