Best Practices Group Presentation

Finish stationary system
Present final color palette: for both print and web
Create 4 ephemera objects for your product; look at the list on p171, select 4 appropriate objects – that we can apply your ‘logomark’, symbol and color palette
Banner Ads – 1 size dimension (provided by me) –3-step animation, in still format design – 2 comps (after the design has been approved, you will create in different dimension)

Favicon design options – 3 options

1. FINAL ‘logomark’ with symbol and tagline / slogan – in lock-up relationship – horizontal + vertical (The ‘logomark’ should be positioned with your symbol, we are looking at the relationship between typography and symbol. We will create 2 options horizontal and stacked)

2. Mid-term due… Initial components to the ‘Style Guide’ (fonts(sizes & styles), color palette, images, logo & name usage, layouts)

3. Favicon ideas (work in large size 150 x 150 for initial comps) – 3 options

4. Design 2 different comps for stationary system - letterhead, envelope, business card
(MUST have printed and trimmed, in color, for group review – we will be pinning up on wall)

4. Rework your tagline to a single phrase

1. Exercise: Before end of class, pick a product that you will be developing over the 11 weeks.

2. Begin a list of names for your company – you will have 20 for next week to discuss

3. Form three groups for book discussion. The groups will be Basics (pgs 2-89), Process (pgs 90-195), & Best Practices (pgs 196-291). Each group will present to the class.

Homework
1. Create a type of ‘product’ that you will create a company for over the next 11 weeks. You will work all quarter with this product. PLEASE select carefully, you
cannot change after Week Two.  
2. Create a list of 20 names for your product that we will for discussion in class. (MS Word doc)

3. Write one page essay about the ‘Product’ you chosen. What will it be, what does it provide, who is the target audience?  (In MS Word -12pt type - double space, approx 350 words)

4. Research competitors of your company and bring to class 6 logos of those companies that are doing something similar. The format will be 1 pdf file, for review.
